At the tender age of 29, Kelsey Nixon has a large number of accomplishments to her credit. She was the executive producer and star of her own college cooking show, interned for both Martha Stewart and Food Network, attended culinary school, competed on The Next Food Network Star, served as a private chef, developed recipes for corporate brands and restaurants, and that’s not even the half of it.

“I think my parents would tell you that I've been a go-getter ever since I was young, maybe to a fault at times!” the Utah-born Nixon said. “I love setting goals and the sense of satisfaction that comes with accomplishing them. I think that my success has primarily been a lot of hard work and a lot of good luck. I'm terribly blessed and try not to take anything for granted.”

Nixon can now add published author to her list of achievements with the recent release of Kitchen Confidence: Essential Recipes and Tips that will Help You Cook Anything — a cookbook packed with indispensible tips, tricks, and recipes for every level of cook.

“The book is filled with recipes that I believe every home cook should have in their back pocket.” Nixon explained. “I focus on essential tools and techniques that will encourage the home cook to experiment a little in the kitchen, maybe even begin creating a few of their own signature dishes. I think that whether you're stepping in the kitchen for the first time, or you've been cooking for years, this book is for any home cook that loves to cook and is looking to add a few tried and true recipes into their repertoire.”

Kelsey names Ree Drummond, aka “The Pioneer Woman” as her own culinary inspiration.

“I think that she's building an incredible brand by being herself.” Nixon said. “Her recipes are authentic and very relatable to so many. I admire the success she's been able to achieve while still raising her kids. Ultimately I look up to her for the way she's been able to reach home cooks and really inspire them.”

So how does a girl who grew up in rural Utah get used to living in the bright lights of New York City?

“I was a small town girl that always had dreams of ending up in the big city, but I can't shake my roots and I don't really have any desire to,” she answered. “I like to think that I live with one foot in the big city and one foot in my small town. I love the sense of community that exists where I come from, but the energy and opportunities that you find in a place like New York City are unmatched. I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing today without NYC being a piece of the puzzle.

The one major adjustment to Kelsey’s life has been the arrival of her son Oliver, just over 18 months ago.

“The impact has been drastic!” she exclaimed. “I now frantically work during naps and from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. Balancing family and work is no joke. I'm still figuring out how to juggle it all and I've got all the respect in the world for anyone else trying to do the same. I also sleep a whole lot less!”

As a practicing Mormon, Kelsey has developed a unique perspective on food.

“My religion was a big part of my upbringing and the culture that surrounds it had a really positive impact on me,” she explained. “I learned the benefit of being part of a community, and most importantly, how to be industrious and a hard worker. Small things like not drinking alcohol have never really bothered me or held me back in any way. It's a personal choice that I might make with or without the impact of my religion.”

So what’s next for Nixon aside from juggling parenthood and her everyday work?

“The 5th season of Kelsey's Essentials is currently airing on Cooking Channel and the show has just joined the Food Network family!” she answered. “I'm also working on a series for Ulive that merges parenting and food: Family Food and First Time Mom.”

Clearly, Nixon is no slacker when it comes to her work and home life, but can she still come up trumps when it comes to her everyday eating habits? It’s time for Elyse Sosin, RD, to give her feedback.

There are certain things that we just accept about our diets (or ignore, or compromise on, or sacrifice).

Many of us consume copious amounts of meat and dairy, without pausing to think about the impact that has on our bodies and the world. We spend money on “healthful” foods, without really investigating the contents or nutritional benefits. Or we accept that many “normal” food pr oducts or supplements were designed without the needs of women in mind.

So, we go through life suffering from health conditions or an unsuitable diet because we feel there’s no other option.

Lizzy Sinatra is a sweet, humbly intelligent, passionate woman on a heartfelt mission to bring better holistic health to women.

For years, Lizzy suffered from the hormonal impacts of birth control, and of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). This ravaged her body and mind, so she turned to her doctor—who told her to just get back on birth control . She was hooked, converted, and ready to bring this newfound diet into her lifestyle back in the States.

Once she got back to the States, Lizzy attempted to make the switch over to a diet similar to the one she’d had in India. She wanted an easy way to get the same benefits of Ayurvedic eating, and to make sure she was getting proper protein levels now that she was vegan.

She soon realized that the protein powders she used at home to supplement her diet were full of, well, crap . She was horrified that this food she consumed every single day was packed full of artificial ingredients that were bad for her gut, mind, and well-being.

According to Ayurveda, Not Everyone Can (or Should) go Vegan.

So why do so many people have a hard time sustaining plant-based diets, what are the biggest mistakes that people make, and what can you do to sustain your plant-based lifestyle for the long haul?

From misunderstanding your constitutional needs to eating too much raw food, many common problems associated with plant-based diets are easily remedied with a little effort and information. Read on and learn how to thrive as a meat-free marauder.

Ayurveda recognizes three primary constitution types—vata, pitta, and kapha—which each have different nutritional requirements.

One of the biggest reasons people fail when following plant-based diets is following a diet and lifestyle that is constitutionally inappropriate, thus leaving them feeling like sh*t.

Please remember, the founders of many fad diets likely found success through a diet that was constitutionally appropriate for them, and mistakenly thought it would be great for everyone else too. This is because many people don’t understand basic constitutional differences or that these differences are critical for understanding what helps us to thrive.

Of all the constitution types, vata is least suited to veganism according to Ayurveda. Why, do you ask? Vata is thin, dry, tends to be ungrounded, and doesn’t really have the body mass to be vegan.

I can attest to this firsthand. I tried to go completely vegan (and did a real sh*t job of it) and ended up anxious, skinny, and exhausted. My happy medium is that I use dairy products, like fresh cheeses, ghee, organic raw milk, and butter.

If you are trying to go vegan and have a vata constitution, you may wish to consider going vegetarian instead of vegan and should incorporate cruelty-free, organic dairy products into your diet regularly.

Your body will tell you if your diet is right, so please listen!


Pitta people can be vegan more often than vata people, but pitta is often not as robust as they think. I often see the “mind dragging the body behind” syndrome in pitta folks, and these are the ones who tend to go the extreme with their raw-only diets.

Pitta raw-foodists are some of the most aggressive people I have ever met because their vata aggravating diet is actually fanning the flames of their pitta temperament. While they may be able to sustain a raw, vegan diet out of sheer will, they may become very unpleasant to be around and will drive friends away with their incessant “you should go raw because” rhetoric and their general bullheaded nature.

If this is sounding like you or someone you know, don’t worry, there is a solution! Start cooking your food and consider adding raw, cruelty-free milk to your diet. Why? Milk is one of the most peaceful foods out there, given from a mother cow to her calf out of her love for her young one. Some of this love is transferred to us (read cruelty-free, small-scale farms) and can help to balance some of pitta’s extremist tendencies. Simply boil then cool 8-12 ounces of milk at night to consume before bed or as a morning snack. Cooking your food will decrease its vata tendencies, thus can help to calm down a pitta psycho.


Of all the constitution types, kapha is the one who can really go and stay vegan long-term. Naturally robust, this constitution type holds onto mass easily and has the constitutional strength necessary for a purely plant-based diet. Kapha should still cook their food, as they tend toward sluggish digestion, but as long as they don’t have any major vata imbalances, they can do this diet for the long haul.

The Three Most Common Problems and Solutions to Following Plant-Based Diets:

Problem (or misconception) One: Plant-based means raw, and raw is better.

Nope, not so, and here is why: Raw food is much more difficult to digest, and relying too heavily on raw can leave your digestive system overworked and your body undernourished. Some signs you are having too much raw are excessive gas and bloating, a feeling of tiredness, and feeling cold all the time.

While you might think you are getting more nutrients from raw food, the truth is you are probably accessing fewer nutrients because cellulose is hard to break down. Though there are a few select people who have the right digestive power and constitution to handle greater quantities of raw foods, most of us need the predigestion that cooking offers in order to fully receive the benefits vegetables have to offer. Not to mention that raw food increases vata in the body, and Ayurveda is supremely concerned with mitigating vata, as it is vata that causes you to age.

Solution: Cook your food!

Cooking is essentially predigesting your food and breaks down the fibers of vegetables, thus taking the load off of our digestive systems and freeing our bodily energy up for other work. This also makes vata very happy, keeps us warm, and supports our digestive system and longevity.

Problem Two: Gas and bloating.

So many people I talk to say they have a lot of gastric distress from going vegan/vegetarian, and many seem to think this is normal, which sends me into a state of distress as an Ayurvedic practitioner.

Guess what? Gas and bloating should not be considered a normal part of any diet and are your body telling you that something is off.

Solution: Cook and spice your food!

Yup, this is so important I had to say cook your food twice!

Beans and lentils become an important part of your diet as a vegan or vegetarian and are also a vata-provoking foods. In order to be digested properly, without gas and bloating, you should use carminative spices. This means spices that reduce gas and bloating and make beans more digestible. Some excellent choices are cumin, coriander, hing, hingvastika, salt, ajwain, and black salt. All of these are helpful in reducing the less desirable and noisier side effects that beans may offer us.

You should also cook your food well. Presoaking lentils is an effective method of reducing time needed for cooking and will help save you time in the long run.

Problem Three: Low energy and exhaustion.

One of the biggest barriers to people maintaining a plant-based diet long term is that they end up feeling like sh*t. The truth is, unless you come from a long line of vegetarians who have adjusted genetically to this lifestyle over time, you will need to supplement the critical nutrients missing from plant-based diets. While many say you can get enough iron from leafy greens and other sources, the real test is how you are feeling in your body.

In Ayurveda, the health of your blood tissue can be measured by your feeling of enthusiasm for life. So if you notice that you start dragging and lose your zest a month or two after quitting meat, these deficiencies could well be why. It’s also these deficiencies that can cause you to crave meat—it’s your body’s cry for help and a sure sign that you are missing critical nutrients.

Never underestimate the wisdom of your own organism. Every craving, thought, and emotion is a clue to our underlying health and a powerful tool for taking charge of our lives.

Solution: Supplement, supplement, supplement!

The biggest players you need to worry about for sustained energy are iron and vitamin B12. You may want to play close attention to your fatty acids intake as well, including omegas, EPA, and DHA. There are many great brands offering algae-based supplements, so be sure to do some research.

Whoever is telling people to go totally vegan, raw, and oil-free is putting many people at risk of serious health issues down the line, from an Ayurvedic perspective.

In truth, there are very few people who can follow this type of diet long term and maintain health, and 95 percent of the people trying this shouldn’t be. Every constitution type has different needs, and these needs must be honored if we are to achieve long-lasting health.

I believe that only kapha people can go fully vegan and maintain health, that pitta people can be happy vegetarians, and that many vata people will need some animal protein in their lives in order to maintain health. This is the ayurvedic perspective, as well as my own.

Side Effects

When taken by mouth: Folic acid is LIKELY SAFE for most people. Most adults do not experience any side effects when taking doses of less than 1 mg daily.

Folic acid is POSSIBLY UNSAFE when taken by mouth in large doses, long-term. Although doses up to 5 mg daily have been safely used in some research, doses of folic acid greater than 1 mg daily might cause abdominal cramps, diarrhea, rash, sleep disorders, irritability, confusion, nausea, stomach upset, behavior changes, skin reactions, seizures, gas, excitability, and other side effects.

There is also some concern that taking too much folic acid for a long period of time might cause serious side effects. Some research suggests that taking folic acid in doses of 800 mcg to 1.2 mg daily might increase the risk of heart attack in people who have heart problems. Other research suggests that taking these high doses might also increase the risk of cancer such as lung or prostate cancer.

When given as a shot: Folic acid is LIKELY SAFE for most people when injected into the body. Most adults do not experience any side effects when used in doses less than 1 mg daily.

What about scientific studies?

There are many published studies which analyze Polysorbate 80, but it is important to recognize their limitations before generalizations are made.

This study suggests a link between the ingredient and infertility in mice.

The relative weight of the uterus and ovaries was decreased relative to the untreated controls. &hellip.. Ovaries were without corpora lutea, and had degenerative follicles.

It was seen to accelerate the maturation of female rats and resulted in deformities of the ovary. These effects were demonstrated in newborn mice which were injected with Polysorbate 80. It is certainly a concern when we consider that some vaccines may contain Polysorbate 80.

A separate study suggested that Polysorbate 80 could be a causative agent of a pregnant woman going into anaphylactic shock.

While this is also a worry, I would choose to be wary of this study as research was conducted on just one pregnant woman who had a severe allergic reaction to a multivitamin administered via IV. While doctors identified Polysorbate 80 as the cause, no other incidences of this type of reaction have been reported.

A recent study has shown a real connection between ingesting Polysorbate 80 and the development of bowel problems &ndash it could be a real worry for those with a predisposition to Colitis.

Relatively low concentrations of two commonly used emulsifiers, namely carboxymethylcellulose and polysorbate-80, induced low-grade inflammation and obesity/metabolic syndrome in wild-type hosts and promoted robust colitis in mice predisposed to this disorder&hellip.These results support the emerging concept that perturbed host&ndashmicrobiota interactions resulting in low-grade inflammation can promote adiposity and its associated metabolic effects. Moreover, they suggest that the broad use of emulsifying agents might be contributing to an increased societal incidence of obesity/metabolic syndrome and other chronic inflammatory diseases.

In a similar vein, the study linked here connected Polysorbate 80 to exacerbated Crohn&rsquos Disease.

Crohn&rsquos disease is common in developed nations where the typical diet is low in fibre and high in processed food. Primary lesions overlie Peyer&rsquos patches and colonic lymphoid follicles where bacterial invasion through M-cells occurs. We have assessed the effect of soluble non-starch polysaccharide (NSP) and food emulsifiers on translocation of Escherichia coli across M-cells.

Translocation of E coli across M-cells is reduced by soluble plant fibres, particularly plantain and broccoli, but increased by the emulsifier Polysorbate-80. These effects occur at relevant concentrations and may contribute to the impact of dietary factors on Crohn&rsquos disease pathogenesis.

Polysorbate 80 has also been causally linked with an increased risk of blood clots, stroke, heart attack, heart failure, and of tumor growth or recurrence in patients with certain types of cancer .

Florida dad arrested for intentionally squeezing 1-month-old girl, breaking 20 ribs

A Florida man was arrested on Thursday after detectives say he intentionally squeezed his 1-month-old baby fracturing several of the girl's ribs.

Detectives began to investigate on Tuesday after the 1-month-old infant was admitted to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital for fractured ribs and bruising.

Detectives say the girl's mother, 25-year-old Sara Nixon, and the girl's father, 25-year-old Daniel Nixon, originally brought the infant to the hospital for digestive problems and a bruise to her leg.

Doctors told investigators that the infant suffered from more than 20 rib fractures.

Detectives conducted interviews with the parents and identified inconsistencies in Daniel Nixon statements. On Thursday, detectives brought the father into the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office for an additional interview.

Daniel Nixon admitted to detectives he intentionally squeezed the baby on at least two occasions, with significant force, because the infant was crying and he was frustrated.

Detectives arrested Daniel Nixon and transported him to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.

Daniel Nixon was charged with one count of aggravated child abuse with great bodily harm. The infant was released from the hospital to the custody of a family member.

Bam bam bam. how is that a bad plan?

Ouch, chawlayyy.

have you ever been given a shot in the side of your foot? i experienced it this morning. it was more painful that i thought possible.

so, i ran the half-marathon. the next day, my right foot hurt sooo bad. every time i put any kind of pressure on it, pain would shoot through my entire foot. ah, the joys of tendinitis.

went to the foot doctor this morning (oh, did i mention i limped around campus all day yesterday, practically in tears? lopsided? and everyone was looking at me like i had some sort of mental problem? that was fun.) and he told me that my tendinitis was extremely inflamed, which was the source of the pain. i told him my extensive experience with tendinitis (you know, coming home from a mission because of it, wearing special shoes, all that jazz), and he suggested i just go for the gold and get a shot of steroids in my tendon, which would numb the bottom and side of my foot, allowing me to walk with no pain for six weeks.

i took the shot. i squirmed, said "ow" probably 40 times--i've never felt pain like that. 20 seconds of pain pain PAIN.

but now i can walk. thank you, dr. rogers.

Some believe that the rollout of drones on the battlefield (and in American cities) means that human elements are going to be combined with AI computers to conduct operations. They also say that weaponized robots are not going to be far behind.

Equipped with AI, such robots will be capable of learning as they go, eventually taking the decision-making out of the hands of humans .

It is very much like the "Skynet" system of AI and weaponized robots portrayed in the "Terminator" movie series, say some experts .

Clearly, artificial intelligence research is ongoing. In one recent study conducted by Google scientists, an AI bot was asked a series of questions regarding morality, ethics and human existence.

Machine: The fact that you have a child.

Human: What is the purpose of life?

Machine: To serve the greater good.

Human: What is the purpose of living?

The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes.

We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."

How can there be any semblance of freedom when there are tanks in the streets, military encampments in cities, Blackhawk helicopters and armed drones patrolling overhead?

It was for this reason that those who established America vested control of the military in a civilian government, with a civilian commander-in-chief. They did not want a military government, ruled by force.

Rather, they opted for a republic bound by the rule of law: the U.S. Constitution .

Unfortunately, with the Constitution under constant attack, the military&rsquos power, influence and authority have grown dramatically.

Even the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, which makes it a crime for the government to use the military to carry out arrests, searches, seizure of evidence and other activities normally handled by a civilian police force, has been weakened by both Barack Obama and George W. Bush, who ushered in exemptions allowing troops to deploy domestically and arrest civilians in the wake of alleged terrorist acts.

Now we find ourselves struggling to retain some semblance of freedom in the face of police and law enforcement agencies that look and act like the military and have just as little regard for the Fourth Amendment, laws such as the NDAA that allow the military to arrest and indefinitely detain American citizens, and military drills that acclimate the American people to the sight of armored tanks in the streets, military encampments in cities, and combat aircraft patrolling overhead.

Making matters worse, we find out that the military plans to use southwestern states as staging grounds for guerilla warfare drills in which highly-trained military troops equipped with all manner of weapons turn American towns and cities in quasi-battlefields. Why? As they tell us, it&rsquos so that special operations forces can get &ldquorealistic military training&rdquo in &ldquohostile&rdquo territory.

They&rsquove even got a name for the exercise: Jade Helm 15.

Whether or not Americans have anything to fear from Jade Helm 15, a covert, multi-agency, multi-state, eight-week military training exercise set to take place this summer from July 15 through Sept. 15, remains to be seen.

Insisting that there&rsquos nothing to be alarmed about, the Washington Post took great pains to point out that these military exercises on American soil are nothing new. For instance, there was Operation Bold Alligator, in which in which thousands of Marines and sailors carried out amphibious exercises against &ldquoinsurgent&rdquo forces in Georgia and Florida. Operation Robin Sage had Green Beret soldiers engaging in guerrilla warfare in North Carolina. And Operation Derna Bridge sends Marine special forces into parts of South Carolina and the National Forest.

Yet if Americans are uneasy about this summer&rsquos planned Jade Helm 15 military exercises, they have every right to be.

After all, haven&rsquot we been urged time and time again to just &ldquotrust&rdquo the government to respect our rights and abide by the rule of law only to find that, in fact, our rights were being plundered and the Constitution disregarded at every turn?

Let&rsquos assume, for the moment, that Jade Helm 15 is not a thinly veiled military plot to take over the country lifted straight out of director John Frankenheimer&rsquos 1964 political thriller Seven Days in May, as some fear, but is merely a &ldquoroutine&rdquo exercise for troops, albeit a blatantly intimidating flexing of the military&rsquos muscles.

The problem arises when you start to add Jade Helm onto the list of other troubling developments that have taken place over the past 30 years or more:

The expansion of the military industrial complex and its influence in Washington DC, the rampant surveillance, the corporate-funded elections and revolving door between lobbyists and elected officials, the militarized police, the loss of our freedoms, the injustice of the courts, the privatized prisons, the school lockdowns, the roadside strip searches, the military drills on domestic soil, the fusion centers and the simultaneous fusing of every branch of law enforcement (federal, state and local), the stockpiling of ammunition by various government agencies, the active shooter drills that are indistinguishable from actual crises, the economy flirting with near collapse, etc .

Suddenly, the overall picture seems that much more sinister. Clearly, as I point out in my new book Battlefield America: The War on the American People, there&rsquos a larger agenda at work here.

Summarizing the report, investigative journalist Chris Hedges declared

" The military must be prepared, the document warned, for a &lsquoviolent, strategic dislocation inside the United States,&rsquo which could be provoked by &lsquounforeseen economic collapse,&rsquo &lsquopurposeful domestic resistance,&rsquo &lsquopervasive public health emergencies&rsquo or &lsquoloss of functioning political and legal order.&rsquo The &lsquowidespread civil violence,&rsquo the document said, &lsquowould force the defense establishment to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order and human security.&rsquo&rdquo

At what point will all of the government&rsquos carefully drawn plans for dealing with civil unrest, &ldquohomegrown&rdquo terrorism and targeting pre-crime become a unified blueprint for locking down the nation?

For instance, what&rsquos the rationale behind turning government agencies into military outposts? There has been a notable buildup in recent years of SWAT teams within non-security-related federal agencies such as Department of Agriculture, the Railroad Retirement Board, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Office of Personnel Management, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Education Department. As of 2008, &ldquo73 federal law enforcement agencies&hellip [employ] approximately 120,000 armed full-time on-duty officers with arrest authority.&rdquo

Four-fifths of those officers are under the command of either the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) or the Department of Justice.

What&rsquos with all of the government agencies stockpiling hollow point bullets? For example, why does the Department of Agriculture need .40 caliber semiautomatic submachine guns and 320,000 rounds of hollow point bullets? For that matter, why do its agents need ballistic vests and body armor?

A hollow-point bullet is an expanding bullet that has a pit or hollowed out shape in its tip often intended to cause the bullet to expand upon entering a target in order to decrease penetration and disrupt more tissue as it travels through the target.

Why does the Postal Service need &ldquoassorted small arms ammunition&rdquo? Why did the DHS purchase &ldquo1.6 billion rounds of hollow-point ammunition, along with 7,000 fully-automatic 5.56x45mm NATO &lsquopersonal defense weapons&rsquo plus a huge stash of 30-round high-capacity magazines&rdquo? That&rsquos in addition to the FBI&rsquos request for 100 million hollow-point rounds.

The Department of Education, IRS, the Social Security Administration, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which oversees the National Weather Service, are also among the federal agencies which have taken to purchasing ammunition and weaponry in bulk.

Why is the federal government distributing obscene amounts of military equipment, weapons and ammunition to police departments around the country?

And why is DHS acquiring more than 2,500 Mine-Resistant Armored Protection (MRAP) vehicles, only to pass them around to local police departments across the country? According to the New York Times:

Why is the military partnering with local police to conduct training drills around the country? And what exactly are they training for? In Richland, South Carolina, for instance, U.S. army special forces participated in joint and secretive exercises and training with local deputies.

The public was disallowed from obtaining any information about the purpose of the drills, other than being told that they might be loud and to not be alarmed. The Army and DHS also carried out similar drills and maneuvers involving Black Hawk helicopters in Texas, Florida, and other locations throughout the U.S., ostensibly in order to provide local police with &ldquorealistic&rdquo urban training.

What is being done to protect the American populace from the threat of military arms and forces, including unarmed drones, being used against them? Policy analysts point to Directive No. 3025.18, &ldquoDefense Support of Civil Authorities&rdquo (issued on Dec. 29, 2010), as justification for the government&rsquos use of military force to put down civil unrest within the United States.

Why is FEMA stockpiling massive quantities of emergency supplies? On January 10, 2014, FEMA made a statement enlisting the service of contractors who could &ldquosupply medical biohazard disposal capabilities and 40 yard dumpsters to 1,000 tent hospitals across the United States all required on 24-48 hour notice.&rdquo

This coincides with other medical requests seeking massive amounts of supplies, such as &ldquo31,000,000 flu vaccinations,&rdquo &ldquo100,000 each of winter shirts and pants and the same for summer&rdquo and other goods and services requests as well like tarps, manufactured housing units, and beverages. And why does the TSA need $21,000 worth of potassium chlorate, a chemical compound often used in explosives?

Why is the Pentagon continuing to purchase mass amounts of ammunition while at the same time preparing to destroy more than $1 billion worth of bullets and missiles that are still viable?

Moreover, what is really being done to hold the Pentagon accountable for its doctored ledgers, fraud, waste and mismanagement, which has cost the taxpayer trillions of dollars?

"The Pentagon is the only federal agency that has not complied with a law that requires annual audits of all government departments. That means that the $8.5 trillion in taxpayer money doled out by Congress to the Pentagon since 1996, the first year it was supposed to be audited, has never been accounted for . That sum exceeds the value of China's economic output.&rdquo

Given the similarities between the government&rsquos Live Active Shooter Drill training exercises, carried out at schools, in shopping malls, and on public transit, which can and do fool law enforcement officials, students, teachers and bystanders into thinking it&rsquos a real crisis, how much of what is being passed off as real is, in fact, being staged by DHS for the &ldquobenefit&rdquo of training law enforcement, leaving us none the wiser?

These training exercises come complete with their own set of professionally trained Crisis Actors playing the parts of shooters, bystanders and victims in order to help schools and first responders create realistic drills, full-scale exercises, high-fidelity simulations, and interactive 3D films.

Given that Americans are 110 times more likely to die of foodborne illness than in a terrorist attack, why is the government spending trillions of dollars on &ldquonational security&rdquo?

How exactly is the $75 billion given to various intelligence agencies annually to keep us &ldquosafe&rdquo being spent? And why is the DHS giving away millions of dollars&rsquo worth of federal security grants to states that federal intelligence agencies ruled have &ldquono specific foreign or domestic terrorism threat&rdquo?

Why is the government amassing names and information on Americans considered to be threats to the nation, and what criteria is the government using for this database? Keep in mind that this personal information is being acquired and kept without warrant or court order. It&rsquos been suggested that in the event of nuclear war, the destruction of the U.S. Government, and the declaration of martial law, this Main Core database, which as of 2008 contained some 8 million names of Americans, would be used by military officials to locate and round up Americans seen as threats to national security, a program to be carried about by the Army and FEMA.

Taken individually, these questions are alarming enough. But put them together and they add up to the kind of trouble that the American founding fathers not only warned against but from which they fought to free themselves .

Indeed, when viewed collectively, they leave one wondering what exactly the U.S. government is preparing for and whether American citizens shouldn&rsquot be preparing, as well, for that eventuality when our so-called &ldquogovernment of the people, by the people, for the people&rdquo is no longer answerable to &ldquowe the people. &rdquo

Mainly, brain damage has been the issue everything from sleep disturbances and memory impairments to hallucinations and mental illness have been experienced by those who received the swine flu vaccine.

Most medical professionals and Big Pharma folks are quick to defend and recommend such vaccines of course pharma giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the manufacturers of the swine flu vaccine, Pandemrix, is a key player in this regard.

However, they've come under fire recently and rather than sit under a protective you-can't-touch-me cloak, the pharma giant has been ordered to pay about $60 million to the UK government after it was determined that Pandemrix played a role in causing brain damage in a range of cases.

"No doubt" swine flu vaccine linked to brain damage

"There's no doubt in my mind whatsoever that Pandemrix increased the occurrence of narcolepsy onset in children in some countries - and probably in most countries," says Emmanuelle Mignot, a specialist in sleep disorder at Stanford University who looked into the effects of the vaccine.

About 80 percent of those affected have been children, but GSK continually turned a blind eye. Even when a study came out showing that vaccinated children where 13 times more likely to develop narcolepsy, the company didn't admit any link. Even when, in 2011, the European Medicines Agency issued a warning that people under 20 should refrain from getting the vaccine, GSK didn't pay attention.

They maintain that they are professionals dedicated to human health the GSK website currently says

"At GSK responsible business is how we do business. Our mission is to improve the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better, live longer."

Sure, tell that to eight-year-old Josh Hadfield, from Somerset, England. He took Pandemrix and guess what? He's now on anti-narcolepsy drugs to help keep him awake in school, something which costs approximately $15,000 annually.

GSK website puts emphasis on "delivering financial performance"

Interestingly, the same GSK website that talks about the company's responsibility to help others feel good and live long lives also touches on a more pressing issue, at least for them - and it's one that says a mouthful. Just a few sentences below its statement of health dedication, in larger font that stands out from the rest of the copy, it says

"How we operate is just as important to us as delivering financial performance."

The statement is attributed to Sir Andrew Witty, GSK CEO. So there you have it. That, my friends, is it in a nutshell, basically as close as we'll come to "hearing" straight from the source itself that all Big Pharma truly has in mind is the health of their numbers.

Of course the fact that GSK will be paying the UK government millions of dollars to those who now have brain damage from taking Pandemrix also speaks volumes.

It acts as an admission that taking the vaccine is indeed a health problem otherwise, why would GSK be on board with giving money to those who are now hardly able to function in their daily lives? It they truly felt they were in the right, they'd stand firm and refuse to make any payments, right ?

It's expected that even more people will develop brain injuries associated with taking the swine flu vaccine, especially narcolepsy and cataplexy, which makes a person lose consciousness whenever they experience deep emotions such as the basic act of laughing.

And a new study out of Canada reveals that this mass consolidation of publishing power is, to a large extent, skewing what passes as scientific progress.

Researchers from the University of Montreal pored through the whole of scientific literature published between 1973 and 2013 and found that the publishing realm has changed dramatically during this time.

Many smaller publishers have been absorbed into larger ones, for instance, and academic research groups have become increasingly beholden to the interests of these major publishers, which tend to favor large industries like pharmaceuticals and vaccines.

Much of the independence that was once cherished within the scientific community, in other words, has gone by the wayside as these major publishers have taken control and now dictate what types of content get published. The result is a publishing oligopoly in which scientists are muzzled by and overarching trend toward politically correct, and industry-favoring, "science."


Ms George said she was 'petrified' of what people would think of her becoming pregnant

'When I explained I'd taken Bootea in previous months, the doctor explained it was probably due to that flushing out my system with a laxative effect that my contraceptive pill failed.'

Ms George, who has made a living talking about motherhood and lifestyle to her followers on Instagram, said: 'After I came back from holiday I felt really unwell, but I presumed it was down to catching a bug or something on the plane.

'It wasn't until I was told I was pregnant that I put two and two together and realised it had in fact been morning sickness I was feeling.'

Finding out she was pregnant was a huge shock to Ms George who had not been in a relationship with Mr Gill for long.

She said: 'In hindsight, Mike and I are over the moon to have our daughter Kovah.

'But at the time I found out I was pregnant it was a huge strain on both Mike and my mental health.

'I was petrified of what people thought of me falling pregnant so soon into a relationship, I didn't even tell my own mum about my pregnancy until I was 20 weeks along.

'Mike and I had planned to start saving to travel around the world but all that changed when I fell pregnant.

'It was a really difficult time for both of us, but luckily we've come out the other side stronger as a couple and couldn't imagine our lives without Kovah now.'

Ms George said: 'I didn't even tell my own mum about my pregnancy until I was 20 weeks'

Ms George alleges a doctor told her detox tea can flush out the digestive system which can stop the Pill from being absorbed into the bloodstream. She is pictured with the tea


Detox teas contain laxatives, most of which are in a natural form, such as senna, yerba mate, fennel seeds and nettle.

Diarrhoea can decrease the efficacy of medication, as it rushes it through your system without being absorbed in the gut into the bloodstream.

This is a common concern with hormonal birth control, which must be taken daily in order to be effective.

The NHS says if you have sickness or diarrhoea for more than 24 hours, your protection against pregnancy may be affected.

Ms George claims that there was no warning that the tea could affect the reliability of the contraceptive pill on the packaging or leaflet tucked away inside the product.

The tea is taken once in the morning and once at night. Bootea has previously warned the effectiveness of the Pill may be impacted if it's taken in the morning - within four hours of the laxative effect. But claim if the Pill was taken at night 'you will be fine'.

Following the birth of daughter Kovah, who is now two, Ms George is looking to raise awareness of the potential problems between the contraceptive pill's effectiveness and detox teas.

She said: 'I'd say to people to 100 per cent do your own research into detoxing if you are considering it but honestly a shift in diet will do more for your gut than tea.'

Bootea claims the 14-day detox 'is a natural, cleansing tea that will leave you feeling energised, motivated to reach fitness goals and will beat the bloat'.

Three of the ingredients - yerba mate, fennel seeds and nettle leaves - have a laxative effect, which causes frequent trips to the toilet.

In addition, the product contains dandelion, which has been shown to interact with medications by changing how they are broken down by the liver.

Ms George added: 'I don't regret taking the tea as I have the biggest achievement and blessing I could wish for in my daughter.

'I'm over all the issues that came when with the pregnancy but it was the hardest time of my life.

'Whilst it was highly traumatic, I don't feel bad about it at all because it gave me my beautiful girl, but my circumstances could have been very difference.'
