Smoked ciolan with green beans

I like bean pods of all colors, either green or yellow and in all its forms of preparation. It is actually called green beans, in the sense that it is not dry beans, even if the pods are yellow.

What do I cook with green beans? I cook it often, but somehow, I always repeat the same recipes. I like to cook simple green beans, with few spices because it doesn't even need too many flavors, it's very tasty anyway.

There are dishes that I make in the summer with fresh green beans, and in the winter I make them exactly the same using the pods put in the freezer or preserved in a jar.

During fasting periods, for example, I make an absolutely great green bean soup with lentils (recipe here)!

In the summer we make the stewed pods that I show you today or the bean pod with fresh tomatoes (the recipe here) to which, if I happen to have, I also put some green crocodiles to be a little sour.

For today's recipe, I cooked the pods in a multicooker. Don't worry, they can be made in exactly the same way in any pan on the stove. Being very hot during this period, I use the multicooker a lot because I take it out on the balcony and leave it there alone to do its job.

This appliance helps me a lot both in summer, because I no longer make heat and steam in the house, and in winter when I no longer have to keep the windows open when cooking. I talked more about what to expect and what not to expect from a multicooker to the sausage lentil recipe (click here).

The model that I have and that I am very happy with, is this one from Heinner (click on the link). It has an acceptable price and in my opinion it is worth every penny for how much it makes my life in the kitchen easier.


  1. The beans are soaked in water. Leave it in the evening until the morning, then put it in a strainer and drain well.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the oil in which the finely chopped onion is cooked. When it turns golden, add the tomato juice and garlic cut into very small pieces. If you don't have garlic, you can also use granulated garlic.
  3. It will give your food the same flavor. Meanwhile, fry the pork chops in a little oil. When the stalks are ready, add together with the beans and two cups of water in which the beans were boiled, in the pan in which you hardened the onions.
  4. The food should be left to boil for a few minutes. At the end, add salt and pear, preferably berries, and sprinkle a little freshly chopped parsley. Ideally, if you have two bay leaves or a little rosemary at hand.

It is not at all complicated to prepare one bean meal with smoked ciolan. To fully enjoy a purely traditional food, serve it with hot polenta. If you enjoy it with a few pickles, you won't get tired.

Add the oil and the pot for the soup and the onion and the garlic. When it becomes translucent, add the peppers, potatoes, beans, cumin, paprika and coriander. Stir, and after a few minutes, quench with hot soup and cover the ingredients completely with hot water. After 10 minutes of boiling, add the drained rice, the ham and let it boil for another 5 minutes.
Put the soup on the stove and serve it to the diners to increase the pores to taste, with fresh juice and squeeze the juice.

Season the pasta with finely chopped greens, crushed garlic, thyme, paprika, pepper, taste to taste and shape into small pieces, greased with oil. If the paste is too soft, add 1-2 tablespoons of breadcrumbs and tea for 2-3 minutes, swelling and absorbing excess moisture.
Pass the crumbs through the breadcrumbs and fry them in a hot oil bath. Serve them with a tomato sauce seasoned with thyme or basil and blackberries or sauerkraut or pickled cabbage salad.

Having a one-month-old baby is tiring, beautiful, tiring, wonderful, tiring. And the time for you is getting shorter and shorter. For two weeks I started working (I work from home, fortunately for me), so I only have time for myself when my husband is at home. And for cooking, I cook once a week.
But I can say that I have a model husband, and this week he cooked one of the evenings. Although he knows how to cook typical Romanian recipes - beans with ciolan, soups - this time he finished me with a wok vegetable recipe scented with smoked pork tenderloin. It turned out very tasty, so I have to praise it and offer you the recipe:
