A favourite in our house and an easy way to get everyone to eat more fish. Salmon is marinated in a mixture of soy sauce, brown sugar, orange juice, spices and fresh ginger, then grilled.

- 450g salmon fillets
- 65g brown sugar, divided
- 2 teaspoons lemon pepper, divided
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder, divided
- 80ml (about 5 tablespoons) reduced salt soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 (2.5cm) piece fresh root ginger, minced
- 80ml (about 5 tablespoons) fresh orange juice

- Rub salmon with about 1 tablespoon brown sugar. Lightly sprinkle with lemon pepper and garlic powder; rub seasoning into fish.
- Into a small saucepan set over medium heat, pour soy sauce and olive oil. Stir in ginger and remaining brown sugar, lemon pepper and garlic powder. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring constantly until sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat, stir in orange juice.
- Place fish and marinade into a resealable plastic bag; seal, and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 3 hours.
- Place fish in baking dish. Reserve marinade.
- Grill fish skin-side up, 2 minutes. Remove from oven, pull skin off with tongs. Baste with marinade, return to oven, and grill for another 2 minutes. Turn salmon, and grill until fish flakes easily, about 4 minutes. Remove from oven, and let sit 5 minutes before serving.

This is tasty recipe, but broiling this salmon doesn't do it any justice. The marinade is just too good. If you really want to get the most taste out of the salmon, try pan frying it after marinating with a little olive oil, searing both sides and locking in the juices, then save the left over marinade, add 1 tbsp corn starch, and heat until thick. It will make a great sauce that you can just lightly spread on top of the salmon. I tried this with my second attempt and my wife and I liked it much better.-03 Oct 2006
This was GOOD!!! I changed a few things to suit our tastes - used 1/2 the amount of soy and brown sugar, used the juice of one lemon and ground black pepper instead of lemon pepper, and 3 cloves of crushed garlic instead of garlic powder. After marinating the salmon overnight in a baking dish, I put the whole dish with all the marinade in the oven and baked for 20 minutes. I took the skin off at the end. Delicious!-07 Apr 2006
I made this salmon for a special New Year's Eve dinner. It was fabulous!! I agree with a previous poster, it is a $20 entree in a medium size city but I would add, a $30 entree in a big city. Since I have a 7 yr old and an 8 yr old and a 1 yr old eating this too, I was apprehensive about the amount of lemon pepper. I had doubled the recipe for the marinade because I was using 2 lbs of salmon, but I only used 2 tsp of lemon pepper instead of 4. It was not too peppery at all. Next, I must admit I was skeptical about thickening the marinade and cooking it and pouring it over the top like some reviewers recommended. I had always heard you should promptly discard your marinade. But I figured I was cooking the marinade so any bacteria would be killed so why not give it a try. Well, I am glad I did....it was awesome. So elegant, it would be such a waste to forgo a step that would only take 5 extra minutes.Everyone loved it and couldn't stop saying thanks Mom, its great! My 8 yr old requested this every New Year's Eve...I think we will have it again way before that : )-31 Dec 2006

- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ⅓ cup soy sauce
- ⅓ cup orange juice
- ¼ cup honey
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 1 (1 1/2-pound) salmon fillet
In a large self-closing plastic bag, combine ginger, garlic, soy sauce, orange juice, honey, and green onion mix well. Place salmon in bag and seal tightly. Turn bag gently to distribute marinade. Refrigerate for 15 to 30 minutes.
Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly oil grate.
Remove salmon from marinade, shake off excess, and discard remaining marinade. Grill for 12 to 15 minutes per inch of thickness, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.

While staying at home to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), one of the best ways to make each day feel different from the last is to experiment with new recipes. Luckily, Quad Webb has some incredible dinner inspiration. The Married to Medicine cast member shared her ideal quarantine meal with BravoTV.com, in an exclusive video you can watch above.
“We are right here in my kitchen, and I’m going to talk to you about the quarantine cuisine, honey,” she said. “What am I eating during this time that we have been on lockdown? Well, I can tell you, not a lot of fattening foods, because I don’t know how long this is going to go.”
To stay healthy at home, Quad suggests whipping up a delicious recipe from her cookbook, Cooking with Miss Quad: Live, Laugh, Love and Eat . “If you’re as busy as I am, you need this recipe: it’s easy and fast. The sweetness from the orange and the aromatic scent lightens up the salmon, and the ginger heightens the flavor,” the recipe reads. “This is a great dish for beginners as you don’t have to worry too much about overcooking the salmon, and the sauce is to die for.”
Orange-Ginger Glazed Salmon
- 1 pound skin-on salmon fillets
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- Juice of 2 oranges
- 5 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 scallion, trimmed and chopped, for garnish
- Cooked basmati rice or whole-grain pasta, for serving
- Season the salmon on both sides with the salt and pepper. Set aside.
- Whisk together the orange juice, honey, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and soy sauce in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Heat the olive oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon in the center of the pan and cook on each side for three minutes until it releases easily from the pan.
- Lower the heat and coat the salmon with the sauce. Allow the sauce to marry with the salmon for two minutes.
- Transfer the salmon to a serving dish and garnish with the scallions. Serve with basmati rice or whole-grain pasta.
Although the recipe calls for the juice of oranges, Quad explained that it’s alright to use pre-squeezed orange juice. “Guess what? I took a shortcut,” she said. “Just gonna put a little bit of orange juice, here. And that is the glaze.”
During the video, she also added another step to the directions: to stop and take a sip of wine. “Gimme just a second, I’ve gotta take a break,” said Quad. “It’s the gift that keeps on giving. Wine!”
Instead of using basmati rice or whole-grain pasta, Quad opted for sticky rice this time around. When it came time to plate the meal, she drizzled some of the ginger orange glaze over the dish, then sprinkled the green scallion garnishes across the top. It looks delicious!

In a medium bowl, mix together everything but salmon and green onion. Submerge and marinate salmon pieces in sauce for 3-5 minutes.
Make Garnish + serve
Cut the green tops of scallions into long thin slices (cut on a hard diagonal), and submerge in ice water for a few minutes.
Grill just until fish is opaque throughout. Skewer salmon bite on a decorative toothpick, and top with curly green onion.
Note: to cut "on the bias" means to cut something on a hard diagonal angle. For scallions, this produces long, thin strips.

Orange-Ginger Salmon Marinade
This is an easy and healthy orange-ginger salmon marinade with bright citrus and sweet flavors. And it only takes five minutes to prep!

- 1 tablespoon garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon ginger (peeled and minced)
- 1 shallot (minced)
- 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- Put salmon and all the ingredients for the marinade in a Ziploc bag or tupperware and refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
- Take salmon out of the bag along with 2 tablespoons of the marinade and cook in a pan over medium high heat for 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Serve immediately topped with fresh chives or scallions (optional).

The broiler is salmon’s best friend: The high heat results in crisp skin and a moist interior. Here, fresh fillets pick up Asian flavor from quick marinating with soy sauce, ginger, garlic, brown sugar, and orange zest and juice. After reducing, this same ginger and soy sauce mixture becomes a sauce for the cooked fish. Make steamed rice to serve alongside or underneath.

Zest the orange and measure out the orange juice and maple syrup. Slice orange if using for Garnish
Pour all ingredients (except for salmon, olive oil, salt and pepper) in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil. Turn down to a simmer. Cook until it has reduced to about half.
Prepare the Salmon while the sauce is reducing.
I like to rinse off the salmon with cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Then spread the olive oil on the salmon skin and top of salmon. Sprinkle on the salt and pepper to the top of the salmon.
Place salmon in the air fryer skin down. Cook at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Brush each salmon with the orange glaze. Air Fry for additional 5 minutes at 400 degrees
When salmon is done remove from the air fryer and brush on the rest of the orange glaze.
Garnish with fresh dill and sliced oranges. Enjoy.

Finally…a recipe that lives up to the hype. This salmon recipe is delicious with our without the glaze. I marinated the fish for exactly 30 minutes, and that was all it needed. I also didn’t have sesame seeds, and didn’t miss them at all.
I could not believe how good this was. Not just the taste but the smell…..when it was marinating, when it was cooking and when we were eating it. Thank you again.

This was the MOST AMAZING marinade and glaze!! I grilled mine in a cast-iron grill pan instead of oven-baked, but this was absolutely delicious! Thanks so much for the recipe!
Crazy good! Made it for myself and my food snob BF, who said he’s love this for his birthday dinner later this month instead of some sort of modified pandemic dinner out. That says it all!! Made all the sauce and glaze but only 2 salmon filets – wish I would have made 4 filets in for leftovers! A salmon bowl with leftover salmon, brown rice and boy choy, and the leftover cooked marinade from the baking pan would have been amazing for a quick lunch the next day. Low sodium soy sauce worked just fine, and other ingredients exactly as stated. Started a pot of brown rice, and then rinsed and cut some baby bok choy in half, drizzled with olive oil and a little salt and pepper, and put on a baking sheet. Baked the salmon for 12 min, then brushed with the glaze and returned to oven along with the boy choy for another 8 min. Super fast and easy and a recipe we’ll be repeating on a regular basis. Now wondering what else I’ll find on damndelicious.net. Buy extra ginger for ginger tea!
This was delicious and so simple to make. The honey ginger glaze was yummy, but we found that the marinade was so good that we didn’t even need it. (Yes, we ate it anyway!) Somehow, we were out of sriracha, so we substituted Tabasco and it was great. We will definitely be making this over and over again!
I am so glad I found this recipe it was absolutely delicious I only let it marinade for about 30 mins I can’t wait to try it after marinating overnight. Served it with spicy Chinese Sichuan green beans and rice. My twins barely even came up for air. Thank you for another fabulous recipe!!
